Sharing Traditional Chinese Culture

The year 2025 holds special significance as the National Day holiday once again coincides with the Mid-Autumn Festival. This means the entire nation will not only celebrate the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China together but also share the joy of the Mid-Autumn Festival with their families. It is a time filled with joy and the spirit of reunion.

In addition, the Mid-Autumn Festival, with a history spanning over a thousand years, stands as one of the most heartwarming celebrations in the Chinese heart. It is traditionally observed on the fifteenth day of the eighth lunar month, when the moon appears at its fullest and brightest, symbolizing reunion and heartfelt wishes.

Sharing Traditional Mid-Autumn Festival Stories

Long ago, ten suns appeared in the sky, scorching the earth and plunging the people into misery. The hero Hou Yi shot down nine of the suns, saving the common folk.

To thank Hou Yi, the Queen Mother of the West bestowed upon him an immortal elixir. One day, villains sought to steal the elixir. To protect it, Hou Yi's wife Chang'e had no choice but to swallow the elixir, ascending to the moon palace. From then on, she and her husband were separated by the heavens. People missed Chang'e dearly, gazing at the bright moon on the fifteenth day of the eighth lunar month. This gradually gave rise to the Mid-Autumn Festival custom of moon appreciation.

Traditional Customs of the Mid-Autumn Festival

Moon Gazing: Looking up at the bright moon, we express our longing and blessings for loved ones.

Savoring Mooncakes: Round mooncakes symbolize family reunion, with flavors varying by region—both sweet and savory varieties are enjoyed.

Family Reunion: No matter where we are, Mid-Autumn Festival is a time to return home or gather with family and friends.
